I Built an AI Agent Inside a Chrome Extension - Here’s What It Can Actually Do
Most productivity tools promise AI and deliver a fancy search box. I did that too — initially.
Most productivity tools promise AI and deliver a fancy search box. I did that too — initially.
When I started building Readdit Later, I wanted something different. Not an AI that just talks about your saved Reddit posts — one that actually acts on them.
Here's what that looks like in practice.
The Problem with Saved Posts
Reddit's saved posts list is a black hole. You save something useful, scroll past it forever, and never see it again.
Readdit Later syncs your saves locally and gives you search, labels, and notes. But even with those tools, managing hundreds of posts still felt like work.
So I built an AI agent into the sidebar.
What the Agent Actually Does
The agent isn't a chatbot that gives you answers. It's an interface that takes action on your saved posts based on what you type.
Search in plain English
Forget the exact title? Don't remember the subreddit? Just type what you remember.
"Find me that post about negotiating salary at a startup"
It searches across everything you've saved and surfaces the right posts instantly.
Learn from your saves
Your saved posts are a goldmine of knowledge you've collected over time. The agent can pull insights, summarize threads, and help you actually use what you've saved — not just hoard it.
Bulk label by topic
"Label all my posts about machine learning"
The agent finds the matching posts, shows them to you, and applies the label in one shot. No clicking through pages of saves one by one.
Bulk delete what you don't need
"Delete all the posts I saved about React hooks"
It pulls up the matches, confirms with you, and removes them. Years of clutter gone in seconds.
Bulk mark as read
"Mark everything about Python tutorials as read"
Clean up your unread pile without touching a single post manually.
Selective bulk export
"Export all my posts about startups to CSV"
Name the topic, pick the format, done. You get exactly the posts you want — not everything, not nothing.
Why It Works This Way
The agent is topic-driven by design. You tell it what to act on, it finds the posts, shows you what it found, and executes only after you confirm.
This keeps you in control while removing all the manual friction. You don't have to scroll, filter, or click through hundreds of saves. You just describe what you want in plain English.
The Honest Version
This isn't magic. It doesn't read your mind or auto-organize everything in the background.
What it does is take the most tedious parts of managing a large saved posts collection — finding things, cleaning up, exporting, organizing — and replaces all of them with a single typed sentence.
For anyone sitting on 200, 500, or 1000+ saved posts, that's the difference between a tool you actually use and one you forget exists.
If that sounds useful, Readdit Later is available on the Chrome Web Store. The AI agent is a Pro feature, but free plan users get 3 credits to try it out.
