AI Agent
An AI agent is an AI system that doesn't just respond to questions but executes actions to complete tasks — searching, organizing, creating, or deleting things on your behalf. A chatbot tells you how; an agent does it.
The defining difference
Both chatbots and agents understand natural language. The difference is tools: an agent is connected to real operations it's allowed to perform. Asking a chatbot to organize your files gets you instructions; asking an agent gets you organized files and a confirmation.
A concrete example
Readdit Later's chat agent operates on your Reddit save library: 'create a collection called Interview Prep and add relevant posts' results in the collection existing, populated, when the reply arrives. Because it's grounded in your own saved posts rather than the open web, its answers can't drift into invented content.
