Second Brain
A second brain is an external digital system — typically built in tools like Notion or Obsidian — where you store, organize, and retrieve the knowledge you'd otherwise forget. The term was popularized by Tiago Forte's 'Building a Second Brain' methodology.
The core idea
Your biological memory is for thinking, not storage. A second brain captures what you read and learn into a searchable system, so retrieval stops depending on recall. The standard loop is capture → organize → distill → express: get it in quickly, file it findably, reduce it to what matters, and use it in your work.
The Reddit-shaped hole
Reddit is one of the internet's richest sources of practical knowledge, but its saved list is a capture tool with no pipeline out. Automatic export of saves into Notion or Markdown — the approach Readdit Later takes with scheduled auto-export — closes that gap and makes Reddit a first-class source for a second brain.
