    Saved Posts Missing?Here's Why

Your saves are probably not gone. Work through these six causes in order — most people find the culprit in the first three.

    Start Here: The Usual Suspect

If posts you saved months or years ago are missing, the most likely cause is Reddit's 1,000-item saved list limit. Reddit only displays your most recent 1,000 saved posts and comments combined. Nothing warns you when you cross the threshold — older items simply stop appearing. They aren't deleted (visit an old post directly and it will still show as saved), but no interface will list them anymore.

    Six Causes, Checked in Order

    1

    You've crossed the 1,000-item limit

Heavy savers hit this without realizing. If you've been saving for years, assume this is the cause for anything old that's missing. There is no way to page past 1,000 inside Reddit — the fix is to start syncing your saves externally before more fall out of view.
    2

The post or its subreddit was deleted

If the author deleted the post, a moderator removed it, or the subreddit was banned or went private, the save either disappears or shows as [removed]/[deleted]. Reddit keeps no copy for you. This is why tools that store post content at save time matter.
    3

You're logged into the wrong account

More common than you'd think. Saves belong to the account that made them. If you have multiple Reddit accounts (or were logged out and re-logged into a different one), check your username in the top-right corner before assuming data loss.
    4

You saved a comment, not the post

Saved comments and saved posts appear in the same list but some views filter them separately. If you remember saving something from a thread, check the saved comments filter — you may have saved the comment rather than the post.
    5

    App cache is stale

In the mobile app, an outdated cache occasionally shows an incomplete saved list. Log out and back in, or clear the app's cache in your phone's settings, then check again on the website — reddit.com/user/YOUR_USERNAME/saved is the source of truth.
    6

    You unsaved it by accident

The save button is a toggle, and it's easy to tap twice. An unsaved post leaves no trace — Reddit has no history of what was once saved. If none of the above explains a specific missing item, an accidental unsave is the remaining possibility.
Every cause above shares one root problem: **Reddit's saved list is the only copy, and you don't control it.** Readdit Later fixes this structurally. It syncs your saves continuously into your own library, so new saves are captured before the 1,000-item window pushes them out, and post content is preserved even if the original is later deleted from Reddit. Your saves stop being at the mercy of limits, deletions, and accidental taps. The free tier covers your 100 most recent saves; from there you can export everything to CSV, JSON, or Notion as an independent backup.
